Information/FAQs

The information/FAQs section is designed to answer many of the question most new coaches have. Please let us know if there are more items that should be added to this section

When do I get my equipment bag?
The commissioner of your division will set a date to distribute the equipment bags.

How do I receive my roster/contact players?
Depending on which division you are coaching in either you will receive a roster from your commissioner or you will be asked to attend a division draft night. The idea of the draft to evenly balance the talent among the teams. We request that you contact all of your players by phone. There is no greater thrill for a child than to hear from their coach. Once the initial contact is made email communication seems to work best.

When willI get a scorebook or keys to the batting cages/boxes?
Scorebook, keys and balls will be handed out during the mandatory coaches meeting in March. Head coaches and assistant coaches are welcome but at least 1 coach from each team must attend.

What are the batting cage rules?
There are a number of batting cage rules. Most questions revolve around access.
1) Team that are warming up prior to a game have first priority
2) Teams from a higher division have priorty over teams from a lower division (majors over minors) unless the lower   division team is warming up for a game and the higher division team is having a regular practice.
3) Teams can not occupy more than 2 cages at any time. If a team is using 2 cages and all cages are full and another team want to use the cages then they must give up 1 cage in a reasonable amount of time.
4) All posted safety rules must be posted
5) All cages must be locked if you are the last coach in the cages.

Will my team get trophies?
Teams in the TBall and instructional levels will all receive trophies at the end of the season. Trophies in the minors, AA, AAA and Majors will be presented to the playoff champion, playoff runner up and regular season champion. Babe Ruth and Softball Seniors will be determined by the governing league.

Does the league provide end of season parties?
The WYBSA does not provide funds for end of season parties. It is up to the coach as to whether they will hold and end of season party.
