2009 Cal Ripken New Regional Tournament Champions

Wrentham’s 9 year olds are the New England Regional Champions!

They earned the title with back to back victories over the previously undefeated team from Exeter, ME (18-0 heading into the championship games). The team won their first game with an impressive 17-4 win. After that, they went on to win an 11-10 8 inning thriller! Down 2 runs in both the 7th and 8th innings, the team showed tremendous character by coming back to score 2 in the 7th to force the 8th inning. After Exeter scored 2 in the top of the 8th, Wrentham came back yet again and scored 3 more to take the title. The final 2 runs were scored on a Will Weir single to center with the bases loaded. Will Weir received the tournament MVP for his performance throughout the tournament.

This truly is an amazing accomplishment. The kids carried themselves with tremendous poise and represented our community with class and dignity that far exceeded their years. Congratulations on their effort, determination and commitment to excellence both on and off the field.
